Meet Carmeon Hamilton, Award-Winning Designer, CEO, and HGTV Star, live on stage Friday at 6PM & Saturday at Noon as she shares her expert advice and insights!
Carmeon Hamilton set off to college at the University of Central Arkansas (Conway, AR) to pursue an education in what the school was known for, Physical Therapy. After pressing along for the PT track for 2 years, she became a Resident Assistant, gaining her own, individual dorm room for the first time. It was her first opportunity as a young adult to make the space hers and she totally took on the opportunity as a way to create her own oasis, in spite of the cold hard floor and cinder block walls. After finishing her space, one of her fellow RAs (and now best friend) walked into the room and was blown away by what she saw and ultimately asked Carmeon what was she really doing with her life!? She immediately tells Carmeon that she should check out the university’s interior design program and consider it as a life path instead of wasting away in physical therapy. The very next day, Carmeon changed her major and officially became a student of interior design.
With a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design under her belt, her career started immediately after graduation in healthcare design. She worked for almost 5 years as an interior designer for a national healthcare company, traveling across the country, designing hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, physical therapy clinics and more. The company later dissolved their internal design department, leaving Carmeon unemployed. That soon became an opportunity to start her own design
business, Nubi Interiors. She worked with both homeowners and business owners, creating spaces that felt personal or on brand, but with an elevated designer’s touch.
While still working with her own clients, Carmeon later transitioned into the worlds of retail and merchandising. She spent almost 7 years as a design consultant, store designer, visual merchandiser and lead buyer for locally owned furniture retailers, mastering the skill of knowing what consumers wanted, before they wanted it! The business of retail, merchandising and environmental design allowed true exploration of design and decor and how they affect such vast arrays of spaces and are truly what powers her design principles today.
With her keen eye for design and gift of storytelling, Carmeon has built a popular lifestyle blog and social media presence. She’s been named as one of nine rising stars by Architectural Digest, voted Top 15 Interior Designers in Memphis by Builders Direct and featured in national publications like, Southern Living, Essence, Domino and more. She’s often asked to share her insights and opinions by way of podcast interviews or panel discussions with major industry associations, such as Better Homes and Gardens and Ballard Designs. In early 2021, Carmeon competed against seven other interior designers from across the country and won the title of HGTV’s Design Star: Next Gen! The prize: her own design show, Reno My Rental, where she helps renters make their place feel like home by transforming the spaces with personalized improvements that don’t compromise the structure of the property, while also using products and services of local design vendors and artisans to create the breathtaking, unique designs. Carmeon was also selected to design the 2024 HGTV Urban Oasis Home, one of three custom designed sweepstakes homes that the network gives away annually! And when she isn’t curating dream spaces or creating content for Fortune 100 brand partners, she’s doting on her son, Davin, and her jungle of house plants! (SPECIAL NOTE: Carmeon was widowed after the passing of her incredible husband, Marcus, who was tragically killed by an intoxicated driver while riding his motorcycle in August 2021)
As a self-proclaimed modern bohemian, Carmeon believes in elevating the everyday and finding beauty in the now. She always seeks to not only discover the beauty in all things, but to also help others find that beauty in the things that surround them every day
